My Favorite Music and Me
Hello everybody! My name is Gencie Coan and I am a freshman here at Converse University. I play lacrosse for the school and I have been playing since I was in 4th grades. I am born and raised in Greenville South Carolina. I do not know much about music or the history and culture behind it so I am exited to learn more! I am a child and family studies major and hopefully to minor in psychology. I have 2 older brothers who both play sports. Judd, 19, plays basketball in Florida and Lucas, 24, played baseball at Erskine. I love animals especially my dog, Stella. She is a black lab mixed with a pit bull and she loves going to the beach just like I do. This is just a little things about my life and me!
1. One example of something I am into at the moment is Zach Bryans music. I have liked his music for about a year now and I am going to his concert in May so I am listening and learning a bunch of his new and old songs. He is a newer country artist. The first song he ever released was “American Heartbreak”. Which he turned that song into an entire album. One of his most popular songs came out in 2022 and it is called “Something in the Orange”. Most of his songs are about love and heartbreak and how he got through those times of hardship. It is interesting to watch Zach Bryan grow in his music and fame when he released new songs.
This song is one of his most heard of and popular songs. It came out early 2022 and is now in his album “American Heartbreak”. This song is about do not lose hope in someone and that there is a possibility they will come back. I think it will be cool to see this song live and the sunsetting while he is performing it!
3. An example of music I do not typically connect to or like is the heavy metal type of music. One of the main reasons I do not like this type of music is because I can not understand what they are saying or what the meaning behind the song generally is. I have never been interested in this genre of music and do not plan on starting to like it. It honestly scares me a little bit how much they are screaming and barely even singing.
This is one band called “Metallica” and this song is Sandman. I do not like this song or the music video that comes a long with it. Like I said before it just freaks me out how much screaming there is and heavy metal.

I understand your dislike of metal music. They do scream more instead of singing, and the music video does give me a headache from all the flashing. This being said, I am a fan of the band and of metal and rock music most likely due to my Dad blasting it on full volume during every car ride. I also love that you included "Never Enough" from the Greatest Showman, it is a beautiful song and it wonderfully shows how much of a music powerhouse Loren Allred is.
ReplyDeleteHey Gencie! While I was listening to your songs, I completely forgot how much I absolutely LOVE "Never Enough" from the Greatest Showman. I used to blast the whole CD on repeat all day every day. I think my family got tired of watching it on long car trips with our DVD player in our van. I can very much agree with you on the heavy metal being too much and you no liking how much they scream. I would always beg my oldest brother to turn it off. I think it can just become too much especially in one sitting.
ReplyDeleteHi Gencie! Zach Bryan is actually my favorite artist so I am so jealous you get to go to his concert! Of course I love "Something in the Orange", but one of my favorite songs by him are "Traveling Man" and "Crooked Teeth". Also, my favorite movie musical is The Greatest Showman and I love "Never Enough". Reading your blog has actually made me want to watch it again, but I would have to say my favorite song from the movie is probably "This is Me" or "Never Enough".
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on Zach Bryan. He is one of my favorite artist as well. The Greatest Showman is one of my favorite movies. I love Never Enough, because the lady that sings it just puts so much effort into capturing her audience and I think she did a great job on that.
